Well That Was A Hell Of A Sabatical
Well I had such an epic weekend that I just had to chronicle it here. First, let’s
start off with Fri. I was pretty depressed most of the day and had been
jonesing for a ride the last couple of weeks anyway so I opted for some two wheel
therapy. The weather was just barely nice enough but I stayed slow and only
slightly froze so it definitely improved my mood. Sat. was just chock full of events:
First thing in the morning we headed out to circle center mall in order to
meetup with area artist and have a little lunch and sketching time. They wer cool people and I had fun drawing. Immediately
after that I drove out to Plainfield to play some risk legacy with some friends.
I got through two games (just barely) and had my first win, which means I got
to sign the board. Ran home to meetup with Joel and Ty so we could head off to
"down the rabbit hole." I might just become addicted to these burn
events. The night started off kind of rocky, but it defiantly got better. There
was of course the obligatory fire spinners and what not, but I also got to
enjoy some great games of pool, learned a little poi spinning, and had some
magnificent experiences. It definitely picked up after a great green gift from
Quasar (illiteration win). I think being in the right state of mind helps immensely at burn
events. Sun. morning Ty almost had to shove me out the door to take a bike ride
and I am SO glad she did. After several cold weather rides this winter I had
basically decided that I wanted to wait for a real ride not one where I just
survived, frozen to the bone, but rather one where I enjoyed myself. OMG this ride was
fucking fantastic. I thought it would be cold, but it was gorgeous. Amazingly
comfortable riding. I started out doing a little highway riding. My bike made it
over 100. Woot. Most often it tops out at 90, occasionally I get 95 out of it,
but I have never gotten into triple digits before. It might have been the stabil that
was in the engine for the winter. Anyway while I'm at that speed I see a cop
going the other direction . . . and time to get off the highway. I
get off and do some riding on north fall creek which is one of my favorite
roads. On my fourth pass while doing the 35 mph curves at over 70 I see a cop
sitting in his car just off the road. Whether he wasn't paying
attention, didn't care, or just didn't have his radar up yet I have no idea,
but I beat a hasty exit and ran back to the highway. Traveled downtown and hung
out making biker friends on the circle a couple of times, and even had a random
ride with a couple of sport bikers. Came home to grill up and enjoy a couple of
10 oz NY strips. Freaken yum. Anyway, the weekend was fantastic and I just
wanted to remember it. I think I might get back into my blog. It is really nice
to have a record. I often forget how many amazing things I really end up doing.
Goodbye all, and make your life amazing.
